My Motivation
I have to admit, maybe loyalty to the country and thrust for adventures wasn't that big of a motivation for me.
I believe it has been the desire for gold, wealth, fame, and being named the governor of lands which I colonise, as a major motivation of mine, but please don't tell King Ferdinand, though I believe he secretly knows, because isn't that the main goal of every explorer?

I found a new land with beautiful flowers in its Springtime. It is March 1513 right now and the land is a blossoming floral field of beauty. That is the reason I named it Florida, from Pascua Florida in Spanish which means flowery easter.

DEAR DIARY IM SO AGITATED RIGHT NOW.
I SET SAIL WITH COLUMBUS AND THEN FERDINAND GRANTED ME THE GOVERNORSHIP OF PUERTO RICO. BUT SINCE COLUMBUS'S SON WAS CONTENDING WITH THE KING FOR RULE, SO KING FERDINAND REMOVED MY NOMINAL NAME ON THE GOVERNORSHIP OF PUERTO RICO.
AGHHH AFTER MY HARD WORK. IT SEEMS LIKE MY BELL OF GOOD HONOR WAS SABOTAGED BY A FELLOW EXPLORER'S RELATIVE. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ME ANYWAYS!
AYSH...At least king Ferdinand allowed and encouraged me to explore the neighbouring regions of Spain as a reward me for my loyal services. But I secretly think he just wants me to find more gold and land for Spain to expand. But I FOUND THE "Fountain of Youth" in the lands of Bimini! FINALLY some acknowledgement. Whooot!! Now a new adventure and gold, here I come!

Guess What!
I am now the governor of Puerto Rico! King Ferdinand of Spain decided to award my great works for the success in Puerto Rico.Well, maybe part of the reason is that I went to explore Puerto Rico while I was being the dep. gov. of Hispaniola and then I came back with discoveries of gold and chances of expansion.
Apparently, people under my control like my peaceful methods as not many rulers are non-violent when ruling.

This is a note from Governor Nicolas de Ovando he said I've contributed largely to the organising, colonising, and ruling of Hispaniola and I've boosted their economy so much. I mean, I helped build the infrastructures and farms too. What's more, I also quelled an uprising of the Indians so guess what I'm now?

Through Thick and Thin
Dear Diary,
I would like to thank my immune system, buff body, and adaptability to harsh living conditions cuz gosh, all these diseases and pneumonia cases are fretting me and I seem to be one of the few people who a) didn't die or b) survived these tough conditions. But, that is, around 1200 other men also survived.
Cheers to me being alive and LAND AHOYYY WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINED LAND
and apparently, there are readily provided slaves, who are known to us as Indians and the enslavement of the new people helped us colonise it! :D
